Prepared Or As You Go

preparedas u go

I was doing some work at a primary school recently and it got me to thinking back. I can always remember in English that it was programmed into us that we must follow basic rules when writing. Fist the plot, characters and storyline etc. Our english teacher always made us do it that way and in the 20 years i have been away from school it looks like not that much has changed. Of course i write completely differently as i get my ideas at bizarre times of the night or out in  restaurant, so i do not map everything out but write as i go along. I suppose there is no right or wrong way of doing it but it would be interesting to see which way you as a writer go about it.

  1. I write your way. I think about if for weeks before I write it down, going over sentences in my head and saying to myself, “I’ll do it tomorrow.” I think we’re taught to prewrite, organize, edit, final write just to give us a start, sort of like training wheels. I don’t know, maybe I’d do better if I went back to that!

    • Well it is good to know i am not the ony one. Sorry about the late reply i have been finalised my book which has taken over 3 years to write. There has not been enough hours in the day lately but the wait is finally over thank the lord
